Customization Guide

Most changes to NAVEGaid never need code. Knowing whether a change belongs in the theme editor, in custom CSS, or in the theme files keeps your store easy to maintain and easy to update.

Custom CSS

Every section has a Custom CSS field at the bottom of its settings. Rules written there only affect that one section, so they cannot leak into the rest of the store. For store-wide rules, use Theme settings → Custom CSS.

Custom Liquid

NAVEGaid offers Custom Liquid in three places:

  • The Custom Liquid section — add it anywhere on a template.
  • The Custom Liquid theme block — inside sections that accept theme blocks. See Theme Blocks.
  • The Custom Liquid block on the product page — for trust badges or third-party widgets next to the buy buttons.

Apps

Add app features through App blocks (placed inside sections that support them, such as the product information section and the footer) or the Apps section. Site-wide app scripts are switched on under App embeds in the theme editor. Avoid pasting app scripts into theme files when an app block or embed exists.

Editing theme code

  1. Duplicate the theme first

In Online Store → Themes, open the … menu and select Duplicate. Make code changes on the copy.

  2. Open the code editor

From the same menu, select Edit code. Sections live in sections/, theme blocks in blocks/, partials in snippets/, and styles and scripts in assets/.

  3. Keep a record

Note every file you change. A theme update replaces the files, so you will need to reapply your edits — see Updating.

Safe-edit rules

  • Do not hand-edit config/settings_data.json. The theme editor rewrites it every time you save.
  • Do not rename section files. Templates refer to sections by file name, so a renamed file disappears from every page that used it.
  • Keep schema JSON valid. A trailing comma inside {% schema %} stops the section loading in the editor.
