Cart & Checkout
Cart behaviour is set in Theme settings → Cart. Checkout itself is run by Shopify and styled in your admin.
Cart types
| Type | What happens on add to cart |

| Drawer | A cart panel slides in from the side; the customer stays on the page. |

Cart settings

Cart drawer recommendations
With Show recommendation product cart on, a “More top picks for you” strip appears under the items in the drawer. Recommendations come from Search & Discovery; if it returns nothing, the products you pick under Product Recommendation are shown instead. Products already in the cart are skipped.

Cart page
The cart page (cart.json) has two sections: Items and Subtotal. Subtotal holds the subtotal and checkout button blocks and accepts app blocks — useful for upsell or shipping apps.

Checkout is outside the theme
Checklist
- Cart type chosen.
- Fallback recommendation products picked, if recommendations are on.
- An empty-drawer collection chosen, if you use the drawer.
- Free-shipping and delivery rates set in the admin.
- Cart note switched on if you take gift messages or delivery instructions.
- Checkout branding set in the admin.
